Projects of the Year 2009 Awards
Honoring excellence in design, construction and engineering of power generation facilities worldwide.
Eligibility Requirements
• Project entries must represent either new power plants OR innovative projects at existing facilities anywhere in the world.
• Eligible projects include, but are not limited to:
– New power plants
– Retrofit projects, including those featuring installation of controls and environmental equipment
– Re-powering projects
– Innovative use of technology
– Equipment upgrades, including turbines, boilers and auxiliary equipment
– Innovative diagnostic analysis and maintenance programs
– Unique construction management and plant design programs
– Combustion optimization
• Nominated projects must have gone into service between August 1, 2008, and July 31, 2009.

Entry Requirements
• Any interested party may submit a project for award consideration.
• Include a description of the project detailing the reasons it should be named Power Engineering Project of the Year 2009.
• Description should clearly indicate the facts and features making the project innovative and/or unique.
• Description should not exceed 1,000 words and should include:
– Quantified economic viability/benefits to customers, shareholders and owners. (Quantified information will be used for judging, will remain confidential and will not be published without project participants’ permission.)
– Innovation – technology, engineering, construction practices, etc.
– Environmental benefits/improvements – quantify to greatest extent.
– Benefits to local community and economy.
– Unique challenges and obstacles encountered and overcome during project.
Supporting material, such as photographs and newspaper/media clippings, is not required, but may be included.

Best Coal-fired Project
Best Gas-fired Project
Best Renewable Project
Best Nuclear Project
